This seemed promising at first, but inevitably, the audio would always have a minor, split second skip every once in awhile (I'm 99% sure the skips were caused by the phone, and not a defect in the app). I used to use a brown noise app on my phone, playing the audio through a hardwire connection to a portable speaker.I'm looking for product recommendations because what I'm currently using is failing. White or pink noise are too high of a frequency and don't sufficiently block out background noises for me, so brown noise is the only option. I get distracted extremely easily, and having a steady, consistent sound playing in the background helps me. I need brown noise to be continuously playing while I'm working and sleeping. Thanks to everyone for the help, and to kdec940 for the LectroFan Evo recommendation. If anyone else is looking for high quality brown noise, I recommend buying a reliable brown noise machine with a 3.5mm jack, and use a high quality speaker - it makes a huge difference. It's unfortunate that I can't just have a single device and need to continue using a separate external speaker, but functionally, this setup is perfect. It plays continuous brown noise (comparable in quality to what I had previously used: smart phone apps and Alexa) with zero skips/interruptions. The LectroFan Evo's built in speaker is just as bad as the LectroFan Classic's, but running it through my Bose SoundLink Mini works perfectly. Next, I tried the LectroFan Evo, since it had a speaker/headphone jack (whereas the LectroFan Classic did not). It didn't have anywhere close to the depth of my Bose SoundLink Mini, so the noise it produced wasn't even close to enough to mask out external noises (cars, airplanes, etc.). I tried the LectroFan Classic after listening to audio clips and thinking it sounded better than the newer LectroFan Evo, but returned it because the built in speaker was extremely lacking.
